About

History

This recounting is a small collection of "Ebenezer stones" (1 Samuel 7:12), allowing us all to see how God has been the portion of Trinity Christian School over the years.

A Blessed Beginning...

Trinity Christian School opened its doors in 1986 to 39 students in grades K-4, as well as a special education program. The elementary program expanded to the 8th grade by 1990-91, when nine students graduated. After seven years, the TCS special education class graduated all students to other occupational and educational programs. Meanwhile, the school program plateaued at grade 8 for six years, establishing a reputation of high standards while pursuing academic excellence to the glory of God.

Enhancement and Expansion

In 1996, TCS began to implement the classical model for Christian education by introducing Latin and Shurley Grammar. This new educational emphasis also included strengthened methodology and curriculum goals in all other subject areas. With expansion into a secondary program which was completed by the 2000-2001 school year, TCS added Great Books, Western Thought (the history of philosophy), Logic, and Rhetoric to its core classical curriculum. In addition, all high school classes were offered at an honors level and thus prepared high school graduates to matriculate into the rigor of any college or university program. The school's expanding academic program was blessed with an enlarged facility in 1999- adding seven new classrooms, including science and computer labs, and administrative facilities. TCS celebrated its first high school graduation with the Class of 2001.

A Lasting Legacy and Pursuit of Further Excellence...

Since establishing a complete K-12 academic program, the school has maintained a student population averaging 12-15 students per grade and provided quality instruction with a low teacher-to-student ratio. The parent-teacher relationship is also strong, with shared core Christian values and close communication between school and home. TCS alumni have achieved good success in transitioning to college as well as through college to career placement. Ninety-five percent of graduates have gone on to college, with the majority receiving some form of scholarship; about 10% have pursued military service; and, according to alumni surveys, approximately 70% are members of a local church living out the faith in which they have been instructed.

Since 2015, TCS has been an accredited K-12 school recognized by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Stability and continuity have remained hallmarks at the school, with only two major administrative changes in 38 years and the blessing of low teacher turnover throughout that time. Since starting the high school, several of the faculty have been TCS alumni who have come back to teach. Also, throughout these years, the majority of teachers have put their own children through Trinity Christian School. 2016 marked the opening of the gymnasium facility, providing ample space for indoor sports activities and additional classrooms for art and music education. The school's biblically-based, academically excellent, classical education was opened to the first international students during the 2018-19 school year. TCS anticipates seeing its ministry to families grow in coming years with God's continued blessing.
